Our KCC mission statement begins by saying we are “
a unified, welcoming Catholic faith community…”
In 2010, Pope Benedict XVI issued a statement on the topic that the Holy Spirit creates unity, where he said,
“The gift of the Holy Spirit creates the unity and universality of the Catholic Church…opening people’s hearts to work with and serve one another…unity is the ‘calling card’ of the church.” The image of the Holy Spirit reflects that our parishes and missions embrace this gift.
The water and waves signify another gift in three ways. Through Baptism were are united in our common faith. Water is essential spiritually as our partaking of Holy Water and physically for our human existence. Finally, from a purely secular view, we all have commonality and identity with our big lake.
